An item in The Ashe .ville Citizen showing road im provement to be done in this sec tion, says: “Polk—Grading and structures of 0.687 miles on coun ty road beginning at junction at 108 in Columbus and running __Continued on Back Page . _ Softball Tournament Gets In Nip-And-Tuck Stage Tryon Processors defeated Ad ams-Millis 11-7 Tuesday night and got on equal terms with three other teams that have won one and lost one. They include The Bap tists, Blue Ridge Weavers and Adams-Millis. Each team is au tomatically eliminated when it loses two games. These four teams have each lost one. The Blue Ridge Weavers pflajy the Tryon Processors today at 4:30 and the Baptists will play the Adams-Millis at 6 p. m. The win ners of this contest will play on Thursday to find out which team plays the Firettien in the finals, the Firemen have won two and lost none. The Methodists were eliminated several days ago. Baby Hospital Does Record Business The Spartanburg Baby Hospital at Saluda, N. C., is doing a record business this summer, over the past two or three, Dr. W. H. K. Pendleton, president, said Tuesday. Dr. Pendleton said that 104 babies and 83 mothers are at the hospital now. Evidence that the climate and care makes the youngsters grow is shown in a pair of twins, Dr. Pendleton said. At birth the twins weighed 3 pounds. When they came to the hospital, June 1, they weighed 6 pounds. Now they weigh 11 pounds and are still putting on weight.— The Spartanburg Herald. On Sept. 1, the standard milk ordinance goes into effect in North Carolina. i
